About DRC:

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a Danish humanitarian nonprofit organization founded in 1956. DRC provides assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees, internally displaced people, and host communities in over 40 countries worldwide. In Tanzania, DRC has been active since 2015, responding to the Burundi refugee crisis in the Kigoma Region.

Role Overview:

As the HR & Admin Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing HR and Administration functions in DRC’s Tanzania operations. Your role involves attracting and retaining talent, supporting staff development, ensuring compliance with policies, and facilitating HR processes. You will work closely with field offices and program managers to ensure efficient support in line with DRC’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the HR and Administration team, focusing on performance, well-being, and development.
  • Provide technical support and advice to team leaders and managers on HR-related matters.
  • Develop HR policies, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in alignment with local labor laws.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and staff development activities.
  • Manage performance, address employee grievances, and ensure fair disciplinary procedures.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance employee well-being and ensure fair compensation and benefits.
  • Maintain HR Handbooks, drive continuous process improvement, and support staff care initiatives.
  • Manage HR and Admin budgets, oversee administrative tasks, and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Coordinate office facilities and administrative support.


  • Master’s Degree or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR/Payroll software.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a senior HR and Admin management role within an NGO.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of local labor laws and HR management principles.
  • Experience in developing HR strategies and policies.
  • Familiarity with online recruitment systems.
